Susquehanna Buoy Redeployed

The Susquehanna CBIBS buoy, located at the mouth of the Susquehanna River near Havre de Grace, Maryland, was redeployed today, thanks to NOAA's partners at the U.S. Coast Guard's Aids to Navigation Team, Sector Baltimore, Curtis Bay.

The buoy had been pulled in early January as water temperatures were declining, to avoid the potential for ice damage to the buoy's sensitive sensors. Now that it has been redeployed, data from the buoy will help the many boaters, sailors, and fishermen that enjoy spending time at the head of the Chesapeake Bay; scientists who examine data to track the health of the Bay; and students who learn about science and the Bay through using data from the buoys.
