Updated Smartphone Apps, New iPad App Now Available

With the recent release of an updated app for iPhone and a brand-new app designed for iPad in collaboration with our partners at the Chesapeake Conservancy, all CBIBS mobile apps now feature graphing capability and access to audio and text versions of interpretive content about all CBIBS buoy locations. These two apps join the new version of the Android app that was released earlier this year.

All these mobile apps are available for free, and can be found on:
> iTunes
> Android

Using the graphing features on the new and updated apps lets users track recent trends at their favorite buoys. Has the wind been increasing or decreasing? Are the waves settling down, making for a more pleasant day on the Bay? A simple tap of the screen can now take you to that information.

And as the buoys mark locations along the National Park Service's Captain John Smith Chesapeake and Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trails, the new apps feature information previous available via the CBIBS website and 877-BUOY-BAY toll-free phone number to make it easier to learn about buoy locations--today and 400 years ago!--while users are on the go. Audio and text are available for each location describing Captain John Smith's experience in the area, geological information and other notes about the location, and a description of what happens near the buoy in each season--including fish and other wildlife movements.
